In 1898, Herbert George Wells wrote what is arguably the most important novel in the history of science fiction. The War Of The Worlds established a benchmark for a whole subset of the genre, that of an alien invasion of the Earth. Less than 50 years later, Orson Welles set a radio drama of the book in the real life American town of Grover's Mill and apparently set in motion a genuine mass panic. This site offers an extensive investigation of this incredible event, including a feature on Grover's Mill and many original documents from the newspapers of the time. The intention is for the site to grow into an all-encompassing resource, not just about the broadcast, but all aspects of Mars, both real and factual. Have fun exploring and if you have feedback, don't hesitate to write. grovers mill - h.g. wells - radio show - film & TV - documents - contact - shop - links
